Zubeida Jaffer was a Cape Times journalist, a community activist and a founding member of the UDF. She was detained by the security police who poisoned and tortured her. This is an extract from Antjie Krog’s book, Country of My Skull, in which she recounts Zubeida’s testimony at the TRC. Antjie Krog is a poet, author and journalist. She was an anti-apartheid activist. During the TRC hearings she reported for the Afrikaans newspaper, Die Burger.
